Why A Wombat?
I spent 11 years in the Air Force and during Basic Military Training (BMT or 'Boot Camp') I was given the nickname Wombat. Nicknames are often assigned during Boot Camp, and sometimes they stick. In my case, I chose to use it to name my company. I don't really remember what brought the topic up, but I was the only person who knew what a wombat was. A wombat is a marsupial that is indigenous to Australia and resembles a fat ground hog.
